[digiKam-users] Unable to display ARW files

I downloaded the portable version of DigiKam yesterday. I have a Sony A7
II camera. I was using Daminion so far and had tagged tagged my Sony as
well as Pentax (PEF) images. When I created the albums for my Pentax and
Sony collections, the Pentax PEF images get displayed correctly.
However, for the Sony ARW images, there is no thumbnail or preview
possible. I just get a placeholder image with ARW displayed on it. Do I
need to anything differently for the Sony images?

Which digiKam version are we talking about? Is the portable version a Windows
version? A quick test here with the beta1 of digiKam-7.0.0 and a Sony A7 II
ARW sample from the web, there are no problems here.

Same here. I'm Sony user since a long time, and no problem with ARW...

I had renamed the files from the camera starting with α7. The non ASCII
α seems to be the problem. I renamed the files with A7 and all is fine.

Have a lot to learn about the features of digiKam. Nice program. I am
using the 6.4.0 portable Windows 10 64 bit version.
