[digiKam-users] --> Sort Tree Albuns

Alex Antão
Hi,

Is there a way to sort my Album tree the way I want ?

All my albuns are named like this:
      MON YEAR - Event_Ou_Name

    For example:

Apr 2019 - Birthday of Somebody
       Dec 2018 - Christmas

I want to let everything organized by date, but my problem is that naming like this the tree becomes messy.
Example: Jun and Jul must come before December, but Dec comes before Jun and Jul on the tree because it orders alphabetically.

In Photos for Mac, I can put any order I want, manually. I think it stores in a database the order it should show the Albums. This is so good....

Thanks....

Do you use the AppImage? If so, this currently has a problem with the locale
setting, hence the wrong sort order. We're working on it, the problem could be
circled, but not fixed yet. Probably the libicu does not find her data file.

Wouldn't it be more simple to use YYYY-MM?

2019-04 - Birthday of Somebody
2018-12 - Christmas

That way, sorting folders alphabetically, also sorts them chronologically.
It will save you a lot of trouble in the long run.

Yeah, I use YYYY-MM too. Another beauty of this naming structure is that it can be automated via a script or via import tools like digikam import or RPD.

I Already have Folders for each year. I like the name of the month instead of the number.
I have a lot albuns here, but if there's no other solution, that's what I will have to do.

I use YYYYMMDD
I know it's not exactly standard, but it saves two places (no -) and some time it may be better.
there is a problem when I don't know the day. then I use 00 (double zero), because omitting the day break the sorting 😕
of course I add this on front of significant name, if any.
sorry for top posting, cleaning the quotes on android is hard!
