Is there a way to show the tags of the currently selected item? I've come across a couple of methods: 1. In thumbnail view the tag appears over the thumbnail. This works fine for a couple of short tags, but if there are many tags, or they are long, the taglist is terminated with trailing ellipses. 2. By hovering the mouse over the thumbnail I can get the tags. This tends to be the method I use. By opening up the tag manager I can see ticks against the tags I have used, but this is not an at-a-glance useful. I use hierarchical tags a lot for botanical naming and they can be pretty long. I'm just checking if there's any other method of having a taglist for the currently selected item that I've missed. Currently using the hover method is the most useful. Dougie

It's always the way. You spend ages trying to work out how to do something, google here and there, and decide eventually to post. Then find the answer two minutes later. While hovering I noticed that tags were displayed under 'digiKam Properties', so I opened that sidebar on the right, and it does exactly what I'm after. Don't know how I missed it. As you were ... I also have 6.3 and it's not working for me. I don't recognise those screengrabs
compared to mine.
I selected Captions, then the Tags Tab,
and then I clicked on the Tags Already Assigned button as shown in
the attached (can I attach screngrabs?) image.
The mouse pointer isn't shown but the
hover text is.

The button I mentioned is in the "captions" section (and there's no such button next to the search box in the "filter" section). Remco It's the captions section that worked for me. Tried to post with an attachment but bounced/held. Here's how mine looks:

I'd love is the state of that button was saved between sessions. Tagging
pictures is one of the most common actions, and I have to click that button every time I want to do that. -- Sent from: http://digikam.1695700.n4.nabble.com/digikam-users-f1735189.html |

That's why I did the screens so you can see where I am. -- sknahT vyS |
