[digiKam-users] Removing People data on export

Dougie Nisbet

If I export something that wish to upload somewhere I usually use exiftool to remove the geotagged info. I use something like:

exiftool -overwrite_original -gps:all= *.jpg

This removes the co-ordinates but not any tags, such as 'Durham' or 'Home' - but that's fine. That works ok for me.

Photos I've tagged for faces looks like a different problem. Having looked at a few with exiftool I can see it shows up in a few instances, e.g.

I guess I could use sidecar files and not have the problem, but I'd rather not. Does anyone have any solutions on howto remove tagged faces info, either using Digikam or another Linux tool? I had a look at the export options in Digikam but couldn't see anything.

I've found the Settings / Configure digiKam / Metadata / Behaviour / Write This Information to the Metadata

section and 'Face Tags (including face areas)' is unticked.

(usually I just drag and drop out of digiKam into Dolphin.)
