[digiKam-users] Question - Export items to file system

Michael-3
Hi, hopefully I'm at the right place here..

I'm trying to establish digiKam 6.0.0 as image manager in my company and I have a question/problem.

The host system is Windows 10.

Is there a simple way to export a bunch of items to the file system (like the image editor has "Export..."? I only find export to cloud service functions.

It would really help to have the possibility to export a selection to a Windows folder in a choosable file format.

The "Batch Queue Manager" can only export to an album. But I share the album with other users and I need the Images on my local computer.

I would really appreciate if somebody can help.

Best Regards

Hi,

This feature is not yet implemented.

We have reports about this topic :

Under Linux (native) we have a plugin to export items, but it do not work under Windows or MAc :

This is due to use KDE KIO slave mechanism which are not really portable and in all cases cannot be bundled. This is true for Windows installer, MacOS package, and Linux Appimage.

In other words, this kind of plugin must be re-written from scratch.

Else under Windows, you can export BQM to a target album from your collection, got to album view and copy and paste the album in Windows file manager were you want.

Best

Re: Question - Export items to file system

This is pretty frustrating.
What I found as a work around is from the batch manager to use a custom
script and then just copy the $INPUT to $OUTPUT and point to a new folder
(album).

This should be a pretty easy thing to fix if it can be handled by a custom
user script.
If I could save the custom script for later use that would be at least a
reasonable alternative.

Re: Question - Export items to file system

Maik Qualmann
Look in the Export menu. There is a tool to export to the local file system.
Select Items to export and go to Export-> Export to local storage.
