Hello,
I have just upgraded to Fedora 28 (cinnamon desktop) and find Digikam (5.9.0) behaves differently when selecting an image and using "open with". Previous behaviour, when selecting "open with darktable", darktable would open over Digikam with the selected image loaded, and when done I could kill darktable and drop back to Digikam. Now darktable opens behind Digikam. I should add that I haven't found any way of minimising Digikam to get to darktable, it takes over the whole screen and all 'exit full screen' does is add another toolbar at the top, no minimise icon or ability to grab edges or corners of the screen. I have to quit Digikam then restart it when done with darktable. I would add that this behaviour of Digikam (taking over the whole screen with no means of minimising) has prevailed for as long as I have used Digikam, which is some years now. Is anyone aware of any settings in Digikam, that have eluded me, that cause Digikam to be minimised, or allow the "open with darktable" to open darktable in front of Digikam? Cheers, -- Regards, Terry Duell |

If you install gnome-tweak-tool that will let you restore the maximise and minimise buttons to the window decorations and restore a bit of sanity to your life. Andrew |

I'm not running Gnome, I'm using Cinnamon. Do you expect the gnome-tweak-tool to still be the solution? I should add that all I could find in the repositories for F28 was "gnome-tweaks", I assume that's what you mean. None of this really addresses the change in behaviour with 5.9.0 and F28. The previous behaviour opened darktable in front of Digikam and was quite usable. Cheers, -- Regards, Terry Duell |

It would seem that the problem is with Cinnamon. If I boot into Gnome-classic, Digikam window displays the minimise icon, which works OK, and "open with darktable" brings darktable to the front. Looks like I need to file a bug report with Fedora, unless anyone knows of some other settings that might be affecting this behaviour. Cheers, -- Regards, Terry Duell |

Greatcoats off! I have finally found some settings in Cinnamon/Preferences which put the normal minimise etc icons on the Digikam window, so now have a usable way of working with darktable from Digikam.
