[digiKam-users] Overwriting existing photos?

Hi,

When moving files to an album that already contains photos with the same filename, I get this dialog:

It has the options

1: Rename automatically

2: Continue

3: OVerwrite automatically

4: Cancel

It is unclear to me what "Continue" does. Does anyone know?

What I would really like is a comparison dialog.

For example, if the source and destination of all selected files are identical (ie. each file is exactly the same file/has the same hash), then I would like to know this and have the option to just delete the source files. Because there is no need to overwrite if they are indeed the same.

If only a subset of files exists already, I would love to have a list of those files and also be able to compare the images of each. For example: do they have the same resolution, filesize, etc. Even see the images side-by-side.

And then I would love to be able to decide actions for each file individually. Maybe I want to rename some of them and maybe even be able to decide the new name.

I don't like this dialog that pops up with every copying problem and use a
small preview to decide whether it's the same image. We have already discussed
a lot about it, the current solution is for a fast workflow that can also run
unattended. If you choose continue, the images with collosion will be ignored
and later displayed as an error in the popup. When overwriting images, they
are moved to the Trash beforehand and can be restored from there.
