[digiKam-users] Offline mode

Hello,

Is there a way to start digiKam in offline mode (without network collections) ?

Thanks,
Andrey

here's my experience:

as long as you register your collection as being Removable, it should work. The problem happens when it's wrong, and when DK then starts, you loose all thumbnail (and maybe more). If your collection(s) are big, this could be an overnight process to sync back up to get a database that's working again.

So I've learned how to get into sqlitebrowser and make a collection part of the Removables, instead of on the Local collections. I personally don't have any of Network Shares though.

Re: Offline mode

I have a Network Collection in my digikam which slows down the start up for sure.

Normally I am okay with that and just start up digiKam 10-15 minutes before I actually need it.

But sometimes I want to browse through some local pictures quickly and wish there was an option to start the application without access to remote and/or removable collections.

I would say that behavior is not acceptable. How many  pictures in your collection. Can you quote the size of the two big sqlite files?
