I had digikam installed on my MAC and was working ok. I had tags and full DB built. I then bought a new computer, this one is running Ubuntu 19.04.
I installed Digikam 5.9.0 (I believe the same as what was on the MAC) During set up I directed digikam to look at the folder holding the database stuff and the photos. The contents are digikam4.db recognition.db thumbnails-digikam.db The new photos have a different path than the MAC, of course. How do I use the tags on the new computer? Import, redirect to the photos and tags? Thanks, d |
You need minimum digiKam-6.0.0 to update the path in the Core DB. From
digiKam-6.0.0 there is a refresh option (toolbutton) in the collection settings. Maik Am Donnerstag, 4. Hi Dennis,
so you may have to use the AppImage Version: Linux AppImage 64-bits <https://download.kde.org/stable/digikam/6.1.0/digikam-6.1.0-x86-64.appimage.mirrorlist> / 32-bits <https://download.kde.org/stable/digikam/6.1.0/digikam-6.1.0-i386.appimage.mirrorlist> 64-bit sha256 <https://download.kde.org/stable/digikam/6.1.0/digikam-6.1.0-x86-64.appimage.mirrorlist.sha256> 32-bit sha256 <https://download.kde.org/stable/digikam/6.1.0/digikam-6.1.0-i386.appimage.mirrorlist.sha256> on https://www.digikam.org/download/ if you want to stay on Ubuntu. I dl the appimage file. However, I'm not familiar with appimage, how does one install this type of file? I see the link to this page, however, I don't see how to install or compile it? Is there a PPA that has 6.0.0? D On Fri, Jul 5, 2019 at 4:04 AM <[hidden email]> wrote: Hi Dennis, |
I followed the directions here. I was able to double click and now I see 6.1.0, however I didn't see an installation. How do I use this going forward? Do I move this and create a icon for this? d On Fri, Jul 5, 2019 at 10:08 AM Dennis Powless <[hidden email]> wrote:

You don't need to install an appimage, it's a self-contained runnable program. Remco |
I see that, did some reading (have to say kinda cool, have had some issues with compiling in the past). I went to Settings, configure digikam, collections. It showed the old path, I clicked the refresh button next to it. I then navigated to the new path Now it's updating the db. In case you wanted to "install" the appimage, you can use AppImageLauncher.
It basically moves your .appimage file to the ~/Applications folder the first time you run it, and creates a shortcut so you can launch it from the main menu. You can get it from here: https://github.com/TheAssassin/AppImageLauncher/releases Or you can just leave it in the desktop and double click it every time you use it. -- Sent from: http://digikam.1695700.n4.nabble.com/digikam-users-f1735189.html |
