[digiKam-users] Network collections

AndriusWild
Hello,

Seems like digiKam removes images located on network shares from the database if they are not available at the moment and then adds them again once the computer is back online which takes a lot of time.

Is that a normal behavior?

Best regards,
Andrey

How do you "add" them again? Maybe Windows is assigning a different
name/identification to your network shares on each new connection.

Trying it now. It is still scanning the remote collection.
So far I am seeing a lot of these:

[214792] digikam.database: Detected identical image info with id 47041 and album id NULL of a removed image for image "IMGP1604.DNG"
[214792] digikam.database: Will reuse this image info and set the status to visible and the album id to 2468
[214792] digikam.database: Finishing took 0 ms
[214792] digikam.dimg: "Z:/FamilyPictures/2016/2016-06-18-24 San Antonio, Texas/IMGP1604.JPG"  : JPEG file identified

[214792] digikam.metaengine: XMP String Seq ( Xmp.digiKam.TagsList ):  ("Events/vacation", "Status/4webshare")
[214792] digikam.database: Pick Label found :  0

[214792] digikam.database: Finishing took 1 ms

Looks like it rescans it after every network outage / being offline, finds duplicates and reuses them. It takes ages on a large collection over the network though...

Best regards,
Andrey

Re: Network collections

woenx
Hey, it just happened to me right now. I can't attach logs because I didn't
start it from a console, but I had digikam open
(digikam-6.2.0-20190730T044304-qtwebkit-x86-64.appimage), I left it open for
a while, and when I switched back to it I noticed there were no albums. I
restarted it and now it's scanning them again from scratch, (a process which
I estimate will take at least 17 hours).

I don't know if there may have been a very short disconnection between my
computer and the server where the pictures are stored (mounted in a folder
in my hard drive), but apparently the server could be accessed normally at
the time I noticed the missing albums.

I'm available to run some tests if you wish.
