[digiKam-users] Moving and reassigning tags - how?

Chris Green
I have a number of 'similar' tags that should be merged.

For example I have 'Animals/Horses' and 'Animals/Horse'.

How can I sort this out?

I tried editing the 'Horses' tag to change it to 'Horse' but Digikam
just says that the new name already exists and won't do it.

I also tried dragging and dropping 'Horses' to 'Horse' but this just
produced 'Horses/Horse'.

So, how can I make all my 'Horses' into 'Horse'?

Oh, it's easy, just drag and drop the old tag over the "good" one and select
"merge".

Usually in such case:
- I select all the "Horses" (e.g. using the 'Tag' tab in the left column),
- add the tag for "Horse" and then
- remove the tag "Horses"
and in that order, otherwise you end up with NO images filtered to add the
"Horse" tag to.

Where can I do that?  It's not in 'Tag Manager', all that offers when
I drag on tag over another is 'Move Here'.

Oh, I never really used Tag Manager. I just go to the "Tags" panel on the
right of the screen, and drag and drop tags on top of each other to create
hierarchies or merging them.

Has nothing to do with the tag manager, is also here. Tags merge is only
implemented in digiKam-6.0.0-beta1.
