[digiKam-users] Missing preview

digikam-2
DK 5.9.0 appimage on Manjaro XFCE

Mostly in searches, when I browse, the thumbnail is missing until I
click on the image, then it shows it.

This also happens in albums > thumbnails but not as often.

Occasionally, DK shows a part of the thumbnail and the rest of the
thumbnail appears when I click on the thumbnail to highlight it.

Hi,

The iconview thumbnails are computed and stored to a dedicated database. Did you have enough place to expand this database ?
The thumbnails database is not corrupted ? If yes, you will found some warning on the console.

Digikam 5.9.0 appimage and the photos are on a drive: sdb:

$ df -h /dev/sdb1
Filesystem      Size  Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/sdb1       2.7T  1.7T  925G  65% /drive-b

$ cat /proc/meminfo
MemTotal:       12270476 kB ==> 12gb
MemFree:        10283116 kB ==> 10gb
MemAvailable:   10875940 kB
Buffers:           95728 kB
Cached:           724020 kB

Where else should I look?

No. Where are stored your sqlite database files ? Look into Configure dialog, database page.

The DB for thumbnail is named "thumbnails-digikam.db".

I use SQLite and thumbnails-digikam.db is located on /dev/sdb1
drive-b with 900Gb free space

or I do not understand your question.

Thanks

Re: Missing preview

Gilles Caulier-4
yes, so all look fine.

I recommend to rename this fileas *.old and to restart digiKam. thumbnails will be rebuild from scratch.

There is no risk for your data. This DB file only contains thumbnails image compressed with PGF wavelets.
