[digiKam-users] Missing auto-detect button in digicam

Matthias Jorns
Hi there,

I'm new in digiKam and so far I was not able to import my images from my iPhone6s with digiKam to my Windows machine.
According the manual there should be a auto-detect button in the camera settings menu - but it's not there(?).
I've tried the standard mass storage way as described in the FAQ but I think it's more for Linux systems - but I'm on a WIN machine.
Could anyone help me to get the images on my machine?

Thanks a lot for your help!
Mat

System Info:
digiKam version: 5.9.0

Build date: Mar 18 2018 (target: RelWithDebInfo)
Rev.: d7a4fdaf60753ef121aea95724bd618799390311

OS: WIN7 / WIN10

Hi,

No chance. Auto-detect button work only with Gphoto2 driver. Iphone use Gphoto2, and libgphoto2 have never been ported to Windows. It work only under MacOs and Linux.

But i just discover this page :

This want mean that a work around is possible... To investiguate.

In all case, currently, the Gphoto2 code in DK is disabled as well under Windows. This require to make some changes in code, but it still simple.

The most complex stuff will be to compile libgphoto2 under Windows...

The official entry from Gphoto2 project :

Please create a wish in digiKam bugzilla, into Import/Gphoto2 section about this topic.

Hi Gilles,
thanks for the feedback.
Tried the workaround - without success. Will now create a wish in bugzill for import of photos with digiKam in windows.
Thanks a lot for your help!
Best,
Mat
