[digiKam-users] Missing XMPs

digikam-2
DK 6.0.0 appimage

DK is not moving the XMP files when moving from one album to another
within DK.

1. I move all the images from the cameras to the %root-album/raws
2. DK import them on start (so far so good)
3. In DK, I rename the images and delete the "bad ones" (so far so good)
4. In DK, I select the images and move them to the appropriate album
until I'm all done.

The problem is that I'm left with the XMPs in the %root-album/raws directory

https://i.imgur.com/Q6wUSce.png

and DK didn't create new/replacement XMP in the destination album.

Here are my settings:
https://i.imgur.com/ZmFEmQi.png

1. Am I doing something wrong?
2. Is this a bug?
3. Should I move the XMPs to the destination album?

Re: Missing XMPs

Hi,

I just tested here, with a simple JPEG file and the associate .xmp sidecar.

Files are in root directory. I create test subdir, and drag and drop JPEG to test dir. XMP is well copied near JPEG.

Check your Setup/Metadata/Sidecars options, just to be sure.

Best

Re: Missing XMPs

Here are my sidecar settings:

https://i.imgur.com/ZmFEmQi.png

after looking at it, it's slightly more complicated.

1. in the raw directory, add some tags with write to sidecar only (see settings)
2. exit DK, so it creates the XMPs in the original directory
3. start DK again
4. move the images from album original album to another album (the
album is not a subdirectory, I don't know if it makes a difference)
5. exit DK

and the XMPs with the tags are still in the previous album/directory

Thanks

Re: Missing XMPs

Gilles Caulier-4
"jpg" and "xcf" are not valid XMP sidecar extension. There are raster image, not xmp metadata file.

I realize that, but it says:

I store the jpegs and the gimps and if I do a rename or move, I'd
like to be also done on the jpegs and the gimps.

Could this be causing my problem with the xmps?

Thanks

Re: Missing XMPs

Gilles Caulier-4
yes. jpeg is JPEG, XCF is Gimp files, not xmp metadata sidecar.

Just try without these settings.
