I use digikam for around 2 years. I believe I have image in catalog around 2x,xxx not sure how much coz it across many folders. Question is what is maximum number of image digikam can handle? I search around but not find the clear answer. 1xx,xxx ? 1M? Or depend
on what? Say if one day I reach the limit how can I do? How expand? Right now I use SQLite database.

Anecdotally, I'm using MySQL (external) with 200,000+ files and it's working fine. Operations like facial detection take a long time, but that's too be expected when scanning this many files. Once the initial scan was done, it has performed well. I'm using the 7.2.0-rc appimage on Debian. -- Michael On Fri, Feb 19, 2021, 23:08 Prapan Chulapinyo <[hidden email]> wrote:

Thank for your info. I've read that SQLite can support up to 281 terabytes. Since I have around 2x,xxx and my biggest database is 9xxmb. So I can expect to support more than 200,000+ image like you too right?

I'm relatively new to digikam, but I think you're going to hit speed/performance issues long before hitting hard limits. As long as there's a migration path from SQLite to MySQL then I'd probably just keep using it as is until it gets too slow. But like I said, I'm relatively new. I don't know if there's an upgrade path, or if that's what an expert would recommend. -- Michael On Sat, Feb 20, 2021, 00:08 Prapan Chulapinyo <[hidden email]> wrote:

I am using the SQ-lite database. Not the slightest problem. I don't use face-recognition and almost no tagging, though, so my digikam4.db has only about 200MB and thumbnails-digikam.db about 10GB. -- Daniel Bauer photographer Basel Málaga https://www.patreon.com/danielbauer https://www.daniel-bauer.com |
