Hello,
I’m new to digiKam and despite I read the documentation and the immense Dmitri Popov’s “digiKam Recipes” I couldn’t find any information about how to effectively manage the RAW+JPEG pairs. My question is: there are some ways to assign tags/categories/labels only to the JPEG file and transpose it to the RAW file (or viceversa)? And also if you have personal suggestions about how to organize the two files in the most tidy way could you please share with me your methodology? Thank you in advance. Regards, Paolo |
Hi Paolo,
You can group related RAW and JPEG in digiKam. Simply drop the related RAW file on top of the JPEG to group them. Hope this helps. Hello,
I have similar problem and find this way for grouping operation very annoying. I mean, to move raw file onto jpg file, one by one. And also, after grouping them, raw and jpg, if I set the star grading, its behaviour is not very clear. In fact, both the 2 files will bear the star, but one only will be selected by the Filter command, probably the one that appear after grouping command. Now the questions are two: 1) Is there a way or a hint in order to automatize the raw and jpg grouping ? 2) Is there a way or a hint in order to have visible either raw and jpg, after filter selection ? many thanks Mippo ----- x -- Sent from: http://digikam.1695700.n4.nabble.com/digikam-users-f1735189.html

There is no automatic grouping on import. We have wishes for this in the bug
tracker. But you don't have to group them all individually. Select all items in the album and select Group-> Group by file name in the context menu with the right mouse button. In order to display everything in the filter, you can temporarily display all grouped elements as open in Menu-> View. Maik Am Sonntag, 3. Hello, I am learning how to migrate to DigiKam myself and what I found is:
1- it is possible to "group" JPG and RAW together by using quite strange interface. Here is one detailed discussion: http://digikam.1695700.n4.nabble.com/Group-JPG-and-RAW-td4692504.html#a4692684 (at least "Group by filename" works in 7.2) 2- BUT after trying out grouping I noticed that face tags were still not applied to JPG&RAW together and this grouping is half-manual work. So I decided that an easier method for now is: https://scribblesandsnaps.wordpress.com/2011/08/03/quick-tip-disable-certain-file-types-in-digikam/. So I disabled all RAW files in DigiKam by adding string: "-RW2; -CRW; -CR2; -NEF; -ORF; -RAF; -PEF; -PTX; -ARW; -RAW; -DNG" to MIME types for pictures. This is not perfect, but this way: I can use .xmp sidecars for videos (and there is no .xmp for each RAW file) I can tag each JPG file once and not do it twice for the RAW file as well. I have a small Python script that I can use to delete all orphaned RAW files that are left behind. Not ideal, but this is how I plan to not-use RAW files in DigiKam. :) -- Sent from: http://digikam.1695700.n4.nabble.com/digikam-users-f1735189.html |
