[digiKam-users] Is the problem local (me) or general

digikam-2
I just downloaded the DK 7.2.0 appimage. I'm on opensuse leap 15.2.

When I run DK 720, it opens the albums, but when I click on "Albums"
(the top root). DK crashes with:

>> ~/downloads/appimages/digikam-7.2.0-x86-64.appimage
>
>-- digiKam Linux AppImage Bundle
>-- Use 'help' as CLI argument to know all available options for digiKam application.

>/tmp/.mount_digikaEwrQPR/AppRun: line 172:  2239 Segmentation fault (core dumped) digikam $@

I always click on the Albums to see what are the changes.

Is the problem my system or a general problem of appimage?

BTW, I noticed that the DK 710 appimage is: 303Mb vs DK 720 appimage is 205Mb

Thanks

Here under openSUSE Tumbleweed everything works without problems with an AMD
graphics card. Under Album Root I would guess that the Welcome HTML page
should be displayed. So I suspect that QTWebEngine is crashing on you.
QWebEngine is heavily dependent on supported graphics hardware. I also see 2
error messages "libGL error: unable to load driver: swrast_dri.so, libGL
error: failed to load driver: swrast". We already have bug reports on
QWebEngine. But there is no turning back, QWebEngine is the future and
openSUSE has also discontinued support for the older QWebKit. You probably
must waiting for native digiKam packets. The difference in size is due to the
fact that the face model data is no longer included and is downloaded from
digiKam once. You should have seen a download dialog.

BTW, would I have the same problem by using Manjaro? (I'm planning on
switching to Manjaro by June but I could do it earlier)

Thanks

[digiKam-users] Face tagging in 7.2.0

Ronald Orenstein
Hi -

I have now run the new face tagging with very good results, so please excuse the following basic questions:

1. Can people tags be arranged in groups (eg family etc) without upsetting the scan results?
2. How do you indicate that a face (under the browse people menu) is either a face you do not want to include (eg a stranger in a crowd) or is not a face at all?
3. Under the browse people menu, what is the purpose of the red X in the upper right and the + in the upper left?

Thanks - Ron
