[digiKam-users] How to tag?

I have the following categories:

dogs, then subcategories...

When I attach to the photo a tag the subcategories like "dodoite",
should I also attach the tag "dogs"?

When I search for the tag "dogs", the subcategories do not show up.
To make the subcategories show up in the search I need to select
"dogs" and every subcategory.

What's the better way?

Right click on a tag, Toggle Auto-> Children. Now the parents tag is not
selected and thus not assigned to the image.

I just checked and it's current set to:

        toggle auto > none

What's the difference between none/children/parents/both? I just
don't which one to use.
