[digiKam-users] How to copy the caption to many, many images

digikam-2
DK 6.4 app image on Manjaro

I have 1 caption (6 lines) that I want copied and applied to over 100
images.

I have tried:

* selecting all these images

1: caption tab > can't paste the caption
2. item > edit metadata > edit xmp > caption

It only applies the caption to the current highlighted image.

How can I apply to all of the selected images?

Thanks

What works for me:
 - add the caption to one of the images, make sure it's applied
 - select all the other images where you want to apply the same caption
 - select the image where you have added the caption *this must be the active
image*
- now you will see the caption in the edit box. Do a small edit on it, e.g.
add and remove a "." (dot)
- apply the "edit", it should now be applied to all the selected images.

That should be "add the image where you have added the caption to the
selection"

It works, but I don't understand it. I did it a 3 times to understand
up (started with only 1 image with the captions and all the others
images captions were blank)

It worked twice and the third time it didn't.

Is there some youtube video/clip so I can see?

Thanks

Something to look for: the caption box should say "Enter caption text here"
in faint gray letters.  Sometimes, though, the caption box is completely
blank, so when you try to enter text in it, the caption will  not be
centered correctly in the thumbnail. Clicking on the X clears the caption
box so that "Enter caption text here" shows up again, & the formatting will
be correctly centered.  Also make sure your text entry starts at the very
beginning of the Caption box.

Another thing: make sure your language preference is set correctly.  When I
first started captioning pictures, sometimes the language was set to
English, other times it was set to Default.  Changing from one to the other
makes the caption "disappear."  Now I just make sure the language is always
set to Default. (Unfortunately now I need to go back and correct many photos
that were entered with the language set to English).
