[digiKam-users] Help getting digiKam to load

Garth Kay-Hards

Hello

I have a 64bit machine and use OpenSuse with Gnome and have used digiKam a lot in past versions of my OS, but since I went onto OpenSuse Leap 41.3 I could not get digiKam to load the database and my photos. I gave up for some time and used the Windows version (which I don't like as much as it doesn't handle batch resizing like the Linux version).

I thought I'd just wait till the new release of Leap 15.0 was out and reload it then.  Well I have a brand new install of Leap 15.0 and I installed digiKam without any problems. It installed as normal which includes installing a whole heap of KDE software. But when I try to load the program it gets to the point of trying to load the database and hangs up with the message - "Error while opening the database. digiKam will try to automatically reconnect to the database." It just stops there.

I thought perhaps SQlite hadn't been loaded and went to the Software manager where I saw that libsqlite3-0 was installed. I scrolled down and installed sqlite3 to see if it would help, but no it didn't.

I need someone's help please as I really love this photo editor.

Regards

Garth

Hi,

Can you reproduce the problem using the digiKam Linux AppImage bundle, which contains all the necessary dependencies to run without to use the system library. This can identify a packaging problem with your system.

Else, a console trace at digiKam startup can help to identify the source of the problem.

1/ upload the current AppImage 6.0.0 pre-release :

2/ To start AppImage, look this document :

3/ The debug trace will appear on the console. We need this trace to investigate...
