[digiKam-users] Fwd: Re: HELP: Cannot select by picks or colors, either in filters (right column) or in select by labels (left column)

James Orr
I just installed DK 6.1.0 git Build April 3, 2019

The issues with PICK and COLOR labels continue. It appears to me to resemble a database-App interface issue, where the database does not get populated when one presses APPLY. I have examined the SQLite database with DB Browser and have not found the table that appears to be relevant; I wonder if it is missing. Guidance here would be useful. Even if other users cannot replicate my issue, I cannot replicate their success, and I truly wish for success.

I expected that the PICK and COLOR labels would work flawlessly. So far, not luck.
DK is 6.0.0
I am using QSQLite with the database stored in the folder PICTURES on a 4TB HDD labeled as DATA. I have about 42000 images in the database.
I am testing sorts of CR2 raw images.

I attached some screen shots:
  1. Selected folder with images.
  2. In CAPTIONS added PICK and COLOR.
  3. Failed to select images by either PICK or COLOR.
  4. Selected 5-star images, shows two images with PICK and COLOR.
  5. Failed to select by PICK and 5-star. Also failed to select by COLOR.
  6. Failed to select by PICK only.
  7. Closed DK and reopened
DebugView is new to me. I'll have to learn how to use it. This looks like deeper troubleshooting than I usually have to do.

Eventually the images are being moved to a linux machine. I see the labels there too.
Haven't seen any issues.

Hi

It's not reproducible here under Linux. I use Labels to sort items while a workflow.

Which database type do you use (here sqlite) : local or remote ?

What do you see as debug traces from digiKam with debugview tool from Microsoft while you play with Labels ?

I can label selected images using the CAPTIONS tools in the DESCRIPTIONS section. When I mark images with the Pick Label or the Color Label and Apply, the images show the selected attributes.
  • However, when I close and reopen Digikam, the attributes are missing.
  • When I use  either the Filters (Right) or the Labels (Left) and try to include only the labels or the colors, nothing happens.
 Rating works well.

Without these selection criteria, my workflow is severely hampered. What am I missing?

Have you possibly activated the "Clean up the metadata from the database when
rescan files" in the digiKam metadata settings? If so, definitely disable
them.

Maik,

Thanks for the tip. I checked and the box was clear.
