I am using the left panel tag and I'm looking for all the images with
the "dogs" tag: 13651 images (see the right panel)

dk only displays: 12447 images. There's no active filter. I'm missing
1204 images.

Here's the print screen:

Do you edit images in digikam?
If yes you might want to check if the "always show originals" option activated in Versioning settings

No. Zero, 0: image edits in DK. I use DK as a DAM only.

Re: Filters missing images

You would still checked that box. Who knows maybe digiKam recognizes editing notes written to XMP by darktable or others and hide original images based that.

It didn't make a difference. Same number displayed: 12447 items but
the tags show: 13651

Re: Filters missing images

Then I would try to find at least one image that is not displayed in digikam and check its file system permissions, read all metadata using exiftool, search for it in digikam database etc.

Re: Filters missing images

fch22

I got similar problem from time to time and the tips was to uncheck the paramater "activate edition and managment of non destructive version" (sorry translated from french ) in the version tabs of editor settings

it solved such problem for me (and I can reactivate later)

hope it helps
