[digiKam-users] Fake PNG

daniel bip
Hi there,

Before upgrading to DK 7.0 (DK 6.4 if I am not wrong) when I edited any image to crop it and saved it as a version in PNG the file was named whatever_v1.PNG but saved in JPEG format.

I guess it's a known issue.

That didn't affect me in any way but now that I'm using external programs to open those files some of them complain about that.

As I can't rename extensions from inside DK (can I?), I can easily rename files to JPEG in Explorer and problem will be solved, but when it comes to DK DB, is there any way to correct that problem or change name files without problem? Or, is there any way to fix everything from inside DK?

Thanks.

BR,

d.

Hi,

It sound like an old bug. This versioning image must always in loss less format as tiff png pgf or heif.

I’m sure that image as generated in the pass... the bug must be fixed.

Re: Fake PNG

Maik Qualmann
In digiKam setup under Editor-> Versioning you can set the format in which the
derived image should be saved. JPEG (default) PNG, TIFF, PGF, JPEG2000 are
available.
