[digiKam-users] Duplicates filenames

digikam-2
DK 6.1 appimage.

Is there a way of search for duplicate images with the same filename. (case insensitive if
possible)?

I don't need image comparisons, just filename.

You can just use the Search panel on the left. Just type the filename in
there, and you'll get all the pictures with that filename. Or in the
advanced search, you can even search directly by filename.

Thanks but I don't think that it will work for what I'm trying to do.

It looks like I may have screwed up when moving things around and have
the same photos (same filename) in multiple albums. We are talking a
few hundredS. (Looks like I have copied instead of move).

and I'm trying to cleanup. I'd like to try to delete them from within
DK because if not the preview/thumbnail stays in the database.

In that case, I think it would be easier to write a script that compares all
the filenames and checks for coincidences, moving these to another dir. You
could even compare checksums if you think the filename might have changed.

But if you are not comfortable writing scripts, in digikam there's the
"versions" panel on the right, where identical pictures are also detected,
even if they don't have the same filename. Maybe that could be helpful.

No problem with that. I use rdfind. But that doesn't solve the
problem is deleting all the internal DK data related to the
duplicates, especially the thumbnails/previews.

Never tried or explored the version tab. Looks interesting. I'll
explore...

Thanks

Shouldn't digikam remove automatically all information regarding missing
pictures if you go to Tools/Maintenance and use the "Perform database
cleaning" option? It also does that on startup if you configure that way on
the settings.

About the versions panel, I have not used it a lot. Maybe you first need to
build the similarity fingerprints, so digikam can find the pictures, but I
am not sure.
