I have just updated my Mac to Mac OS Catalina Version 10.15 and now I cannot

Hi, digiKam bundle is compiled on my MacBook pro which still running under MAcOS Mojave. XCode still also an -1 version. I don't yet upgraded both. But i'm surprised because MacOS still binary compatible with 3rdparty programs. Something have been certainly changed in low level to introduce this broken compatibility. digiKam is compiled with a backward compatibility with MacOS ElCapitan. I would to see the error message printed on the console when you run digiKam from a Terminal. I did some more 'research'... It appears that my NFS mounts are no longer working since upgrading to Catalina. I store all my photo's on a volume on my Synology NAS and also the SQL server is on the NAS, so digikam could not reach this anymore. May I should find another way of making my photo's on my NAS available to digikam. Do you know what the best way is to do this? If your NAS support SAMBA share instead NFS, try to use it. MacOS is normally able to mount Windows network FS. But why Catalina left NFS support ? NFS was removed from Apple kernel ? I did create a SMB share which is now available on my Mac as /Volumes/digikam, but I cannot enter this as a location for a remote collection in the digikam preferences. The little file browser in the collection location chooser will not let me browse to the share. Also I now have a problem with my digikam instance on my Linux machine. It seems that the collection locations are global to all machines, and on my Linux machine I still have my NFS share pointing to /mnt/idefix/digikam. I was also planning to use my Windows machine as a digikam workstation, and there the share has even another path name. So how should I set my collection locations in digikam? I have only one physical location for my photo's (on the Synology NAS) but this has a different pathname on the workstations that connect to it. Can digikam handle this situation? I just read a review on Catalina - it's going to be fun
- Unsigned apps can still run, but even access to the desktop must be allowed - OpenGL should have been removed and no App can be built over XCode with OpenGL anymore - Photoshop Elements 2019 and CS6 will not start anymore - Steinberg music software also no longer compatible - NFS problems can be found while googling... If you trawl through the comments in https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=261277 you can find details on how to have multiple paths in AlbumRoot to allow this sort of access. Unfortunately there is no UI to do this, so you need to edit the database directly, nor even any proper documentation. Andrew |

Hi Willemx, Upgrading quickly MacOS is by experience always a challenge. You must to wait few weeks before. Apple do not do the job well years after years, certainly because the maintainers team is less important due to ios like devices to maintains. So, i always wait a little bit before to upgrade and start to recompile digiKam. Especially with this MacOS release which break a lots of compatibility. digiKam is compiled under MacOS using Macports. I'm sure that Macports is broken with few packages and time is mandatory to port all codes or to wait extra project to update source codes. Another point is the XCode compiler, which is derived from Clang : New release == problems ! So i'm always working with the -1 version, which always work as expected since at least few months. Voilà, this kind of situation is the standard now under MacOS : never use the x.0.0 release of Apple stuff.. Ok thanks, I will wait for a next release of digikam that will be compatible
with macOS Catalina and for now use a linux machine for working with digikam. I do think however that the other problem (different pathnames on different clients for the same share) needs to be addressed by digikam. It looks to me as if the current situation has a design flaw. I think you should not store client-specific information like file paths in a global database that is also used by other clients. Would it not be better to store this kind of data in a local settings file on the client itself? Hi all, * 2 plugins will be disabled and will need to be ported to pure Qt5 : Presentation, GLViewer : both use OpenGL, and Apple has remove OpenGL in favor of Metal API. So for the moment this kind of code need to be disabled until a fine solution is found. * For the rest, i will seen a compilation and run time if side effects have been introduced.
