[digiKam-users] Digikam hangs while closing

Roberto Franceschini
I use Digikam 5.6.0 with Ubuntu 18.04, standard desktop.

Everytime I close the application it hangs the whole desktop environment for 20-30 seconds. I found that this is not happening in two cases:
  • When starting from terminal
  • If I start more than one istance, the first hangs but the second doesn't
Any hint on how to debug it?

Thanks in advance
Jimmi

Hi

Sorry for the delay,

Can you reproduce the problem using the official 5.9.0 Linux AppImage bundle ? You can use appimage in parallel than official 5.6.0 package. AppImage do not install anything on your system. It include all necessary dependencies. It's a stand alone executable to run as well from your home directory.

Hi Gilles,

I should also apoligize for the time lag 😊

I had the time to do some test but cannot reproduce the problem.  As stated before if I start DK 5.6.0 from terminal the problem doeas not happen, and this could be the reason why using the appimage it does not happen too.

At this point I believe that it is something related to the OS, Ubuntu. I opened a thread on their forum but unfortunately no reply so far.

Thanks anyhow
Jimmi
