[digiKam-users] Digikam hangs on startup

I re-installed Digikam. 6.4. On windows 10. But it won't open.

Dirst dialog box: Error while opening database. Digikam wil
autmatically try to reconnect. This takes forever.

ERROR. Failed to open database. Digikam wil attempt to start now, but
is not functional (...)

Splash screen stuck on "checking ICC repository". Forever.

Installing 6.4 was an upgrade from 6.2 in which I experimented with
database, multi-user and repository settings (more questions on that
later).

I tried deleting Digikam and reinstalling. No luck. Then I went into
teh registry and deleted all keys with digikam in it. Still no luck.
I tried to find a config-file, but wasn't able to find something like that.

So Any directions to how I could get digikam working again (completely
fresh instal) are greatly appreceated.

Download DebugView from Microsoft and start it. Start digiKam and post the
messages that are output in DebugView.

The digiKam config file is here:
C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\digikamrc

OK, THX for the swift repy.

Problem seems clear: digikam still tries to connect to the mysql-server which isn't there anymore...

But now how to fix it...

The folder C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\digikamrc does not exist. Only:

C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\digikam but it seems pretty empty. only an empty folder "cache" is present..

This is bad if the database no longer exists. The "digikamrc" is not a folder,
but a file. You can delete / rename it, so that digiKam starts again with an
empty configuration.

thx. mybad about the file vs folder.

deleting digikamrc dit the trick
