[digiKam-users] Digikam editor problem

Hans-Peter huth
Hi,
digikam 5.9.0 did work reliable since i installed Manjaro Xfce 1.5 years
ago. But since last update (or maybe even longer), the build-in editor
looses menu and status bar configuration (menu becomes invisible) and - if
i open the editor a second time, it doesn’t show anything (blank window).
Because now one complains on the digikam mailing lists and because the same
version (and older ones) used to work well, i suppose this is a Manjaro
problem. Maybe some issues with newer Qt versions.

Digikam appimage does work (but has other issues, its a beta).

Can someone confirm this behaviour? Any hints to repair this?

Thanks, HP

Yes, this is a problem with Qt-5.11 and other programs are affected with lost
tools, menu or status bars. Here under openSUSE Tumbleweed the Qt packages
have already been fixed. We still have a change for digiKam-6.0.0 in the code.

What problem do you have exactly with the AppImage?

Thanks, so i simply wait until either Manjaro provides a fix or the 6.x
line comes out.

Did not test too intensive (version from July 7), but window layout is
strange at some places wasting space, and lens correction does not work
(menus, selections etc are inaccessible).
