[digiKam-users] Digikam: Cannot access file ././/share/alsa/alsa.conf

ralphl
I am installing Xubuntu 18.04. Previously I have run the appimage version of
Digikam on Xubuntu 17.04. When I try to run the exact same version of
Digikam (digikam-5.9.0-20180217T042522-x86-64.appimage) on Xubuntu 18.04., I
get a series of error messages:
Code:

ALSA lib conf.c:3750:(snd_config_update_r) Cannot access file
././/share/alsa/alsa.conf
ALSA lib control.c:954:(snd_ctl_open_noupdate) Invalid CTL hw:0
AL lib: alsa.c:257: control open (0): No such file or directory
ALSA lib conf.c:3750:(snd_config_update_r) Cannot access file
././/share/alsa/alsa.conf
ALSA lib control.c:954:(snd_ctl_open_noupdate) Invalid CTL hw:0
digikam: src/hostapi/alsa/pa_linux_alsa.c:1454: BuildDeviceList: Assertion
`devIdx < numDeviceNames' failed.
/tmp/.mount_digikaQTUFnQ/AppRun: line 73:  1304 Aborted
(core dumped) digikam $@

Can somebody give me advice on how to fix this problem???

I forgot to mention that the file /usr/share/alsa/alsa.conf does exist in my
system. However, I don't know what "././/" means, so I don't know for sure
what file digikam is looking for.

Hi,

This error is relevant of QtAV player which parse the sound device to play video. Typically this error must be fixed with official 5.9.0 AppImage bundle (you don't use the official one), or with the current 6.0.0 pre-release bundle available here :

Thank you very much for responding so quickly.  I downloaded the 6.0.0
appimage and it fixed the problem. Thank you.

Another question on installing a new OS with Digikam appimage.  I did a
fresh install of Xubuntu 18.04 in a new disk partition.  I kept my old 17.04
OS in its old disk partition.  I have my system structured for multiple OSs.
All my data is in a separate data partition including my photos, my digikam
database, and the digikam appimage itself.  To install the 18.04 OS, i
merely copied 2 digikam files from the 17.04 OS into the same location in
the 18.04 OS.  These were:
/home/ralph/.config/digikamrc
/home ralph/.local/share/digikam/cameras.xml

This seems to work, but is there anything else I should do, like copy other
files, or set some parameters???
