Hey everyone,
inspired by this other post http://digikam.1695700.n4.nabble.com/digiKam-users-quot-Legible-themes-quot-td4708788.html, and not very satisfied with the dark themes currently included in digikam (they either have some elements that contrast too much, causing eyestrain, look too cluttered, or have non-neutral grey backgrounds), I decided to customize a new theme to my taste. Based on the the Optimal color scheme (https://store.kde.org/p/1001783/), the highest rated dark theme in the KDE store, I adjusted it so the color of the frame surrounding each picture blends with the background (I think they clutter the interface), and I adjusted the font color so it does not contrast that much. So, I have created three color schemes with three different levels of darkness. They work perfectly fine with the Breeze Dark icon theme. Here are some screenshots: Edit: I have updated the .colors files and the screenshots based on some comments below. Optimal-DK-lighter Download Optimal-DK Download Optimal-DK-contrast Download Optimal-DK-darker Download To use them, just place them in ~/.local/share/digikam/colorschemes/ (in Linux) or C:\Program Files\digiKam\data\digikam\colorschemes (in Windows) and restart digikam. So, what do you think? Any feedback will be welcome. -- Sent from: http://digikam.1695700.n4.nabble.com/digikam-users-f1735189.html |
Hi, I don't yet tested here these 3 new color schemes, but if there give better results than currents, i agree to replace them. Best Gilles Caulier Le jeu. 22 août 2019 à 13:23, woenx <[hidden email]> a écrit : Hey everyone, |

You mean you'd prefer them even darker?

Any feedback will be welcome. My problem with this scheme and all the other DK schemes, is that I do not see where I am. I prefer to use the keyboard to the mouse due to elbow and shoulder injuries. I'd like something that separates the colors according to the current active panel. ie: * the current tab to be highlighted for either of the left/right tabs * if the focus is on the tags, then the grey of the middle becomes dimmer. * if the thumbnails is the current focus then the grey around the thumbnail becomes brighter and the grey of the side panels becomes dimmer. Do you mean, something like this?
Also, I have realized I have to tweak a couple of things. The text in the Properties panel is too dark (because it's supposed to be inactive), and inactive selected items in the folder/tag tree are barely visible. -- Sent from: http://digikam.1695700.n4.nabble.com/digikam-users-f1735189.html |

I am quite happy with "Black Body". Please do not replace it!

Don't you think the letters in that theme are too white? The contrast hurts
my eyes... Anyway, I created that color scheme because I missed a dark theme similar to that of Lighroom, Darktable, Gimp, any many other photo management software. I think it's nice that you took the work! For sure somebody is interested and I have absolutely nothing against it, if your themes are integrated or downloadable somewhere. I just don't want the one I use to be replaced :-) No, for me the letters are not too white. Maybe my screen has less contrast than yours, I use a calibrated screen. -- Daniel Bauer photographer Basel Málaga https://www.patreon.com/danielbauer https://www.daniel-bauer.com |

I am sorry, the "Insert image" button in this mailing list does not seem to

The tabs are much more differentiated, great. If I read the theme correctly, the current focus is on Nala (green at the bottom left of the screen). Basically, I just want to know that if I type something or move on of the arrow, it will be on the correct panel, right now I can't and everything has to be preceded by a mouse click to either put in the correct spot or ensure that I'm in the correct section. This leads me to the next question: How does one install these custom themes? Thanks -- sknahT vyS |

I did those changes I said, now the text on Properties should be more
readable, and the currently selected item in the tree view should have more differentiated. Here is the new color scheme: Optimal-DK-contrast.colors Installing them is very easy: - First, if you use Linux, copy the .color file to: /home/username/.local/share/digikam/colorschemes (Create the "colorschemes" folder if it does not exist) or, if you use Windows, to: C:\Program Files\digiKam\data\digikam\colorschemes - Then, restart Digikam. In the main menu, go to Settings, Themes, and you'll see a list of themes. In this case, it's called "Optimal-DK-contrast". Just select it and you're done. - (optional) in case you want to switch from the clear to the dark icon theme, go to Settings, Configure Digikam, Miscellaneous, Appearance, and change the Icon Theme to "Breeze dark". Restart Digikam to apply the changes. Here is a screenshot, what do you think?: -- Sent from: http://digikam.1695700.n4.nabble.com/digikam-users-f1735189.html |
thanks
I installed them, and test them, there are fine Personnaly I'm using ShaeOfGray and I prefer it because it is darker. only improvement that could be great on this one is relative to the icons of the picture when not selected. when you select it, you see correctly the geolocalisation tag and if you put the mouse on it all the other command, but when you look at the others picture, the geolocalisation tag is not really visible thnaks Le 22/08/2019 à 23:19, woenx a écrit : > I did those changes I said, now the text on Properties should be more > readable, and the currently selected item in the tree view should have more > differentiated. > > Here is the new color scheme: Optimal-DK-contrast.colors > <http://digikam.1695700.n4.nabble.com/file/t376572/Optimal-DK-contrast.colors> > > Installing them is very easy: > > - First, if you use Linux, copy the .color file to: > > /home/username/.local/share/digikam/colorschemes (Create the > "colorschemes" folder if it does not exist) > > or, if you use Windows, to: > > C:\Program Files\digiKam\data\digikam\colorschemes > > - Then, restart Digikam. ShadeofGray is quite good too, but I find the text too white for my taste
(Ok, maybe the contrast is too high on my laptop, I still have not calibrated its screen). Also, every thumbnail has that frame around it and I believe it's unnecessary because clutters the interface. I also like the GrayCard theme, which is quite similar to "Optimal-DK-darker" I edited here, but has also those frames around each picture. I can't see what you mean with the geolocalisation tag, though. Are you referring to the little "globe" icon on the top right of each picture, when they have GPS coordinates? These are very visible in my computer (using the Breeze dark icon theme), either in ShadeOfGray or any other dark theme. Can you send a screenshot? Maybe I can do something about it. -- Sent from: http://digikam.1695700.n4.nabble.com/digikam-users-f1735189.html |
Yes, I was referring to the little "globe" icon for example. Now Just
configured with "Breeze Dark" and this is exactly what I was looking for ! thanks a lot ! Hi,
Nice work! I was wondering is it possible to get rid off the small black frames around every thumbnail? And to get rid off the small shadow around them? Thx B -- Sent from: http://digikam.1695700.n4.nabble.com/digikam-users-f1735189.html |
Thanks!
Mmm, I don't think I can change the frame and the shadow by editing the color scheme file... -- Sent from: http://digikam.1695700.n4.nabble.com/digikam-users-f1735189.html |
Maybe CSS or something...
