DK 5.9.0 appimage
I have an XFCE with 2x24" monitors. Is there some way of utilizing both monitor at the same time, for example the panels on 1 monitor and the thumbnails or the previews in the other one? Or... -- sknahT vyS |
Hi, yes, here with Plasma desktop, i use both 27' WQHD monitor. One for thumbnails view, one for Image editor or Light Table. This is why explicitly, all main view are separated from thumbnails view. Gilles Caulier 2018-07-27 20:50 GMT+02:00 <[hidden email]>: DK 5.9.0 appimage |

Byt the way Gilles, are not you touched by dual (or more) monitor problems under KDE?
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=356225 https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=210439 kubuntu 16.04 with two monitors setup is unusable, and from what I have understood it is qt linux implementation fault, not kde, that is kde developers explanation. P.

Hi, Album view is open on the right side monitor, editor on the left one. 2 separate main windows. Same for LT, BQM, or Import tool. This work like this since a while (before 1.0.0 if i remember). There is nothing special to do in digiKam or plasma. all is managed in top level automatically by the windows manager provided by the desktop. This is true for the native digiKam or the AppImage bundle. This is true for CentOs, that i use sometime. This is true for a Linux running into Virtualbox with more than one screens enabled. I never use Ubuntu, and especially Unity. This desktop manager is full of bugs or try to re-invent the wheel. It just a wast of time As Ubuntu switch back to Gnome, i'm happy to have never spare my precious time to hack DK with this desktop. In fact, when i want to hack, Mageia propose all the desktop at login time, and i run digiKam as well to see if dysfunctions appear. I never use Kubuntu too. Each time that i try, the system become unstable quickly. I need to work, not to pass my precious time to hack this kind of stuff... Even if i already seen some dysfunction in Mageia, DK has always work perfectly in this Linux Box. I know that recent Qt5.10 or 5.11 has dysfunctions with current desktop. These Qt version are not LTS and all distribution which use it by default will introduce problems in user space, with complex applications as digiKam. I'm not surprised, as i follow all main qt devel blogs, and i see the list of features blow up at each releases. Under Mageia, the clever choice was to select Qt5.9.x LTS, and all work fine until now. This is also my choice to build AppImage bundle.
