[digiKam-users] DK at opening

PXOPHE

Je voudrais que la fenêtre digikam qui s'ouvre au lancement de DK soit la où elle était lors de la dernière fermeture et non dans la partie inférieure droite de celui-ci.

Comment procéder.

Merci pour votre réponse.

=====================

I would like the digikam window that opens when DK is launched to be where it was when it was last closed and not in the lower right part of it.

How to do this.

Thank you for your answer.

Hi,

Which digiKam version did you use exactly ? Witch operating system ?
Which desktop ?

Here, with current version, the last tab selected from left sidebar of
the main window still remaining between sessions...

Best

[digiKam-users] TR: DK at opening

PXOPHE
I'm using DK 7.0.0 beta 2 with Win 10.

Asus Rog core i7, 16g Ram, GeForce GTX1080, screen 18.5 ", 3840x2160, 32b/pix.
Data base on ssd internal, Picture on SSD USB3 2Tb and HD USB3 5Tb, More than 150,000 pic.

It is not a problem with  the sidebar choice. it remain.

But :
I close DK with screen pic 1.

I reopen DK and i can see screen pic 2. DK window is shifted on lower right corner.

Thank you.

Re: TR: DK at opening

Maik Qualmann
The behavior is currently normal on Windows. We also have a bug report. Unlike
in Linux, the position of the window is not saved by Windows. We should do
this, is not implemented at the moment. An expanded digiKam window opens
correctly. It's on my todo list.

[digiKam-users] PC upgrade: improving digikam performance

Pedro Neves

Hi all:

I'm considering an upgrade to my PC (currently I have Intel Core i7 5775c CPU, 16 GB non-ECC RAM 1867 MHz and several SSD and HDD) and I'm wondering which components have a higher impact on improving Digikam's performance:

- RAM?

- CPU?

- Should I get a GPU? What would I gain from having a dedicated GPU?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers:

Pedro

you already have a good config. I don't see how you can significantly
improve this :-(

Yeah.... truth is I can't complain about my setup.

I was just wondering whether a dedicated GPU helps in image processing
with Digikam...

Thanks:

Pedro

Re: PC upgrade: improving digikam performance

Hi,

This will depend where you expect improvements.

GPU optimizations will be used to render HTML in QtWebEngine view, aka
map and web service logins.
GPU is also used in Qt core to speedup rendering of widget on screen.
OpenCV will also use GPU for algorithms.
For the rest it depend. but mostly all algorithm inside digiKam do not
use GPU optimization, because we prefer stability against
performance..

Where you can have gain is with 4K and multiscreen monitors.

Best

Gilles:

thank you very much for the detailed explanations.

All the best:
