Hi- I'm finding that the lens distortion correction is not automatically finding the right settings. I can apply them manually and get good results, but it's pretty slow. I've installed Lensfun 0.0.95-1. I also see an earlier version is available, from Github. Any recommendations? |
Which digiKam version do you use? Possibly provide a test image.

Here you go. dK 6.4.0-7 via pamac from "extras" on Manjaro Linux/Gnome 19.02 Thanks On Wed, Mar 25, 2020 at 2:36 AM Maik Qualmann <[hidden email]> wrote: Which digiKam version do you use? Possibly provide a test image. -- |
Hi Marc,
The digiKam official package that you use must certainly be compiled with the official release of Lensfun library which provide Lens database. Help/Component Info dialog will give you the right LensFun version used inside. If it's 0.3.2, this is the last version published officially by LensFun team few years ago ! With the Linux AppImage bundle that we compile digiKam with last LensFun code where the Lens database is maintained well. The problem is the non release plan from Lensfun. https://lensfun.github.io/ So, just download the official digiKam Linux AppImage and try again. Thanks, I'll check it out. Here's what I got from the help menu: digikam version 6.4.0 LensFun: 0.3.95-0 I manually updated lensfun after my digiKam install to 03.95-1 not 0.3.2 (not 0.0.95, sorry for the typo) Not sure If we have found the problem yet. Curious as to why darkTable seems to find the lens info from what I assume is the same library. Will I need to completely reset up my digiKam app, or will it pick up the config I already have? If I need to reconfigure it manually, I'll probably hold off until I'm done with the testing phase. On Wed, Mar 25, 2020 at 6:36 AM Gilles Caulier <[hidden email]> wrote: Hi Marc, -- |
Hum Lensfun 0.3.95 is an alpha release published while 2019.
You can try to use the digiKam Linux bundle 7.0.0-beta3 which use the current code from github (last implementation and last database) But take a care, do not use yet in production as it will convert some table in database, and you will not able to switch back to 6.4.0. Just create a new user, create a small collection with test image, and start digiKam 7.0.0. a new DB will be created in user space. The 7.0.0 test bundle can be found here : https://files.kde.org/digikam/ Gilles Caulier Le mer. 25 mars 2020 à 07:56, Marc Sitkin <[hidden email]> a écrit : > > Thanks, I'll check it out. > Here's what I got from the help menu: > digikam version 6.4.0 > LensFun: 0.3.95-0 > > I manually updated lensfun after my digiKam install to 03.95-1 not 0.3.2 (not 0.0.95, sorry for the typo) > > Not sure If we have found the problem yet. The problem is the assignment of the manufacturer. The PEN-F is in "Olympus Imaging Corp." registered. In the image, however, "OLYMPUS CORPORATION" is given. Olympus has 3 different manufacturer names in the Lensfun DB, we would have to check all 3. Maik Am Mi., 25. Hi Maik,
We have already a wrapper about lens manufacturer in LensFun DK interface : https://invent.kde.org/kde/digikam/-/blob/master/core/libs/dimg/filters/lens/lensfuniface.cpp#L259 So new customisations can be add at this place... The first step has been taken, the Olympus make and model are recognized. For
the lens, we only read out the lens model based on a bug report (# 311295). With this camera, Lensfun expects the full name of the lens type from the Exif metadata. Maik Am Mittwoch, 25. The problem is now solved for digiKam-7.0.0. Olympus make, model and lens

Maik,
I will try to found a work around the network bandwidth COV-19 restriction with gitlab repository to update the bundles. As all my computer has already a copy of code source, i don't need to cleanup and reload all before to build source code. I need to fix the rules in scripts and test.
