[digiKam-users] Adding mtp devices (for example mobile phones) to collections

cerp
Dear all,

I do not seem to be able to add mtp devices like mobile phones to
collections. Is there a way to do so?

I need to be able to bidirectionally transfer pictures between the
mobile phones SD cards and the file storage.

I am using Digikam 5.9.0 on Kubuntu 17.10 64 bit.

Best

Corrado

GPhoto2 uses digiKam for this in the background. Here under openSUSE it works
without problems with MTP devices. Look in the components information under
Help, where libGphoto2 is listed.

I have read again. No as a collection you can not add an MTP device. DigiKam
requires local paths for collections.

I do not think we can add this feature. With the import tool you can download
images, but also transfer them back to an MTP device. Why do you want to have
all images on the mobile devices? Maybe the built-DLNA server in digiKam is
exactly what you are looking for. You can access and view your image
collection via network with all mobile devices. There are a lot of Apps for
all systems that support DLNA.

It is not really the same. The have to stay on the mobile device,
because it is a device I use for work, and so are the pictures. I have
to treat it like a collection like any other collection.
