Hi all people in this room.
I prepared a first tarball of next 6.0.0-beta1. I post this mail here to have a quick feedback about the content of this tarball and to see if it compile fine everywhere. The file is here : Please let's me hear if you occurs any problem with the tarball. I want to be sure that all is fine before to publish the file officially in download area. Thanks in avance Gilles Caulier |
Hello Gilles, Are there any database upgrades in this 6.0? Can we test it and go back to the 5.9 afterwards without any risks? Kind regards Mat Le ven. 17 août 2018 à 09:44, Gilles Caulier <[hidden email]> a écrit :

Yes, there is a database update. The table for the similarity search is
removed from the core database. The similarity database is now independent. Adding a table column to the Images table is insignificant. So, going back to 5.9.0, the similarity search would not work properly anymore. Maik Am Freitag, 17. As Maik said, yes the database change a little bits. We will explain all in details in release announcement. My intent with this post is to have a feedback to see if the compilation of tarball is fine on client computers. Please take a try. Hm, what about situation where I run once 5.6, and once 6.0? Similarity
feature on the 5.6 version is gone? I don't see any side effects considered that database schema has changed. P. W dniu 17.08.2018 o 08:01, Maik Qualmann pisze: > Yes, there is a database update. Similarity No. only the previous fingerprints registered in 5.x database are dropped. The feature still here, but will require to rebuild all fingerprints at the right place in DB. In all cases, make a DB backup : 1/ 6.0.0-beta1 is... beta with possible bugs. Do not use yet in production. 2/ 6.0.0-beta1 introduce big changes in source code and introduce new important features. All possible side effects are not yet evaluated. 3/ 6.0.0-beta1 come with more than 330 file closed in bugzilla. We hope to not break something somewhere. It's not possible to check all combinaisons. I see. But the 5.x series have serious problems with video thumbnails generation, and time shifting (two hours with every video downloaded from SD card). 6.0 at least resolved the problem with video thumbs generation.
And only 5.6 is available as native on 18.04 kubuntu. Looks like Phill dropped the maintenance of DK packages for ubuntu family. I have used DK6 on my production DB (well, the only one I have) and no disaster so far, so I guess the changes are quite stable. P.
