Hello,
Today installed digiKam on WinXP. Used KDE 4.1.2 and digiKam 0.10-beta5
Quite old so there is probably no sense to open bugs but some remarks
- don't know if they are still valid.
1. Definitely feels lack of file browser. Due to nature of Windows it is
hard to quickly get to directory and check what you need. For this
purpose you would have to import whole directories and choose images
from Camera UI. Very awkward solution.
2. Some widgets don't use themes coloring: notably scrollbars and
elements of panels (especially visible in Metadata and Colors panel).
3. This is probably more general. When creating first collection in
existing directory with many images first start up is veeery long
(this probably applies also to Linux version). More explicit
information about time needed to scan images, and/or progressbar
could overcome user anxiety.
4. Something is broken with paths to database. digiKam is losing track
of database location and sets %PATH% to something like:
C:\%HOME%\My Documents\My Pictures\C:\%HOME%\My Documents\My
Pictures\C:\%HOME%\My Documents\My Pictures
(%HOME% expanded). And it is impossible to modify this. You have to
close digiKam, remove database file and start from scratch. Looks
like it sticks only when you put db in the same dir as first
collection.
m.
