Because I use LTS (Mint KDE 13) with its standard repositories and not
an expert in Linux system administration. 13.01.2014 23:01, Marie-Noëlle Augendre пишет: > Why don't you upgrade Digikam? -- Aleck _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |
I'm no expert either. But I wouldn't dream so stay with a distro that is so far behind! I began with Ubuntu, that was always 2 releases behind; so I switched to Fedora several years ago, and can now benefit from stable versions at most 10 days after they're released, for whatever program I use regularly (Digikam, but also Darktable, Scribus and such).2014/1/14 Aleck Mueller <[hidden email]>

Another alternaive is Magiea Linux which is always up to date, because digiKam tarball packager work in digiKa team... This is the distro that i use everywhere. Simple and suitable. Gilles Caulier 2014/1/14 Marie-Noëlle Augendre <[hidden email]>

Well, I quite see your point.
But just that very machine must do the restricted range of tasks (for example, running LATEX) and I am not sure the OS on it will be upgraded even when LTS is expired (we shall have entirely different machines then). By the way, has the namely subject problem fixed in digiKam 3.5? 14.01.2014 19:05, Marie-Noëlle Augendre пишет: > I'm no expert either. One can get DigiKam 3.3 from Kubuntu-backports:
<https://launchpad.net/~kubuntu-ppa/+archive/backports> To install, open a terminal and enter: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kubuntu-ppa/backports then: sudo apt-get update Should be a bunch of KDE-stuff for upgrading. P.S: Recently, Clem sort of recommended on the Mint blog to add backports of standard repositories for Mint 13LTS (one tick-mark in repository setup), to benefit from a busload of features not available othervise. Probably wise to do so if you use Cinnamon or Mate.
