darktable sidecar files

Martin (KDE)
Hallo

are there any plans to support darktable sidecar files in upcoming 2.0
digikam? Afaik they use a different naming notation (complete name of
the origin file with .xmp attached). With this you can distinguish
between foo.jpg and foo.cr2 file where the sidecar files become
foo.jpg.xmp and foo.cr2.xmp

Greetings

Martin

This is a standard file naming ?

Other photomanagement program work like this (as Aperture and LightRoom) ?

Do you have an XMP sidecar file to take a look how darktable manage
information into XMp namespace ?

Gilles, please have a look at bug 264007!
This is a problem: It is not defined in the standard, at least, not that
anyone yet knew of.
There are good arguments in favor of using the complete basename; and in the
end we really have to see how the other apps do it.
