curves/histogram scale defaults

Hi all,

all curves/histogram displays use currently the logarithmic scale as default.
As far as I now linear scale is more common to photography. So I'm wondering
why:
- is it a wanted feature
- or is because of this: Bug 144155 - wrong(?) histogram y-axis when blown-out
over/underexposure (closed with digikam 1.0)
- or there are any other reasons?

I set Log scale by default, because it more suitable with RAW files in
16 bits color depth...
