context menue missing

Rainer Hofmann
Hi,

I've just compiled and installed digikam 0.10.0. Everything worked out well.

When I've opend an album and right click onto a picture, I don't get a context
menu. The box opens but with no text. If I blindly click on a positon a
command responds.
Any idea  what is the reason for this behaviour?

Rainer

I am seeing a similar problem Digikam 0.9.4, KRename, and Amarok 1.4. I put a question out on Linux Questions and the only response I got suggested a KDE issue.

Could it look like a fontset or locale problem?

I changed from Oxygen to Clean Blend and did a restart. Digikam 0.9.4 acts differently. Both the tag tree and the album tree show text on the first page as they develop. If I scroll either the text disappears until I click a specific album or a tag. Then the text appears. The strangest thing is if I click the lowest tag in a set it doesn't show text. If I click any higher level tag it does appear. The Album display area, with the thumbnails, shows text all the time. Context menus are all blank in the text area.

This is solved for me. I have been searching a lot and found this:

http://forum.kde.org/-solved-blank-menus-t-37060.html

It has to do with older nVidia drivers. I made the change and tested it on Digikam 0.9.4 and KRename. For those who want to save the trip to KDE you add the following line to the device section of /etc/X11/xorg.config:

Option "RenderAccel" "False"

Thanks to the KDE forum.

Sorry but neither worked in my case. I removed .fontconfig/, added
RenderAccel-option, changed KDE themes, but with no success.

Kind regards

Sorry that didn't work for you. If you are using an nVidia card have you checked for a newer driver for your card?

Thanks for your efforts, but I 've an "INTEL 810 and later" - card. But as far
as I can see it's a problem related to digikam, since every other application
doesn't show this failure. I'm using Mandriva Powerpack 2009.0 and already had
trouble with the digikam-version (beta) included with the distribution. I'm a
bit disappointed, since I've been using digikam for years now and considered
it to be the perfect photo system. Another point is, that I can't find the
printing function. Do you know where it hides? Hope digikam wiil not be killed
by a overload of functions.

Kind regards
Rainer

Re: context menue missing SOLVED

Bugzilla from michel.pottier@free.fr
Hello,
I have the same problem (lost of context menu) with Digikam 10.0 (the
last one, the official one: many thanks to the developers).
When I right-click on a photo, the frame of the contextual menu appears
... without nothing (no menu), if I try to click somewhere in this
window, and if there is a submenu it appears!
Same thing in the editor!

Mandriva 2009.0 64bits and radeon
If i run digikam in a terminal when I right-click I get in the terminal:

    /digikam(30501) Digikam::AlbumIconView::slotRightButtonClicked:
    Found JPEGLossless plugin/

(I don't know if this information is useful)

Thank you again
