Hi,
Although there exists the possibility in the options pane to store the image comments directly in the jpeg-comments field this doesn't seem to work for me. I just achieve to store the infor in the digikam light-db. Is my exif-data entry corrupt? Am I doing something wrong or is this feature just not completely implemented and if so when will it be ready for use? Any hints appreciated! regards, chris _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

Since digiKam 0.8.0, digiKam store Comments to JFIF section. Witch digiKam release you use ? until 0.8.2, digiKAm use libexif for that. With 0.9.0 release, we will use Exiv2 library instead. > I just achieve to store the infor in the digikam light-db. > Is my exif-data entry corrupt? Note : in 0.9.0 digiKam store comments in IPTC too. Friends:
I do not understand what you have going back and forth. How can I make Digikam work with linspire 5.1.427? I downloaded add on but due to a move from one home to another and worries about a new used car, I can't spend much time on Digikam. If you cannot tell me, I will have to go back to microsoft word. I assume that English isn't your first language so will give you the benefit of the doubt, but that really doesn't make any sense! * What do you mean "going back and forth"? * What has your moving home and new car got to do with Digikam? * In what way can you use MS Word as a replacement for Digikam? (or vice versa - they are two completely different product types!). Yes, this is implemented in... 0.9.0 only, not 0.8.x ! The implementation look over the simple idea of restoring Comments from files : - Comments from JFIF section, or from Exif section, or from IPTC section. Implemented, work fine. - Rating from IPTC. Implemented, work fine. - Internal Time stamp from Exif or IPTC. Implemented, work fine. - Tags form IPTC : implemented but not tested. In fact all tags are stored in IPTC (both than database), but the restoration in database is not yet complete. I have planed to do it for 0.9.0 final release. > This is what I did - the annotations were lost > afterwards... > But maybe I simply didn't get the idea right... > > I would consider embedded comments useful when it doesn't make me loose > my annotations one day I decide to use another photo management app or > when I want to send my photos including my comments to friends. The only constraint is than IPTC only support ascii char. This is can be a problem with comments and tags. There is no solution fix IPTC about this problem (IPTC is an oldest norme). But the future is to use XMP witch support UTF8. This is planed when Exiv2 library will support it. > > thx for your help! > chris De nada Gilles _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

This is nothing to do with digikam. Digikam is free software provided under an open license. It is up to the various distributions to package this up and support their customers. Unless you want to start building your own version of digikam from source, then the people here wont be able to help you. Take your query to the folks at Linspire as they are the ones who have taken the Digikam source code from here and packaged it up into the Click N Run package you have installed. It is those people you must speak to for support. Col. _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |
As you recommended, I went to the Linspire forum and ask for help. Kind regards.
