can't handle png-files

Sorry to bother you again, but I haven't found a solution yet.

I have several digicams: Nikon D50, Ricoh Caplio and a Sanyo. All pictures are
jpg (what else?). Downloading with digikam in my albums with converting them
to png.

I can't open them in digikam, showfoto or gimp. konqueror opens them fine.
What's the matter? Older png-files (from my time as suse-user) work without
any trouble in all my programs.

Why is konqueror able to show this png-files an digikam is not? Shouldn't both
use the same libraries?

This are my installed version:

KDE 3.5.7
digikam 0.9.2-final
kipi-library 0.1.5
KExiv2-library 0.1.5

I use a nvidia Geforce 5200 with nvidia-driver 100.14.19. digikam 0.93 isn't
available for gentoo now. I think, an update wouldn't solve it.

Just tested:

A digikam-png converted to jpg, opened in gimp, saved as png again -> voilà:
digikam can open this png.

Something must be wrong with converting while downloading from the cams.
Any hints?

Just tested:

A digikam-png converted to jpg, opened in gimp, saved as png again -> voilà:
digikam can open this png.

 

Something must be wrong with converting while downloading from the cams.

no. if you post convert from JPG to PNG in gimp, problem become from gimp not digiKam...
 
When you start digiKam from a console, are you any debug messages ?

You misunderstood me. On my cams all files are jpg. By downloading them I
convert to png with digikam.This digikam-pngs can only be opened with
konqueror. Digikam, Gimp, showfoto, krita can't open them.
Converting one to jpg via konqueror ad opening in gimp is ok.

So the problem is converting jpgs to png with digikam cause the converting
back in konqueror is ok. Next clue: konqueror does the converting on a
another way than digikam.

"Found dcraw version: 8.60"

"On strace digikam -o digikam.start" I got the attached file. The only thing
is, digikam doesn't start this way.

Please, is there anybody out there, who can tell me the difference between
handling pngs by konqueror and digikam?

Hi Uwe,

strace -o digikam.start digikam should work. Have you send one of broken png
files to the developer like they suggested?

Are the files broken? To whom can I send an example-file? I can't remember
