Hi all,
Am I right that the new metadata editor capabilities are only available with KDE4 environment and not with KDE 3.5.x? Or did I (once again) compile something wrong? regards Daniel -- Daniel Bauer photographer Basel Switzerland professional photography: http://www.daniel-bauer.com erotic art photos: http://www.bauer-nudes.com/en/linux.html Madagascar special: http://www.fotograf-basel.ch/madagascar/ _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

Yes, this is being written for the KDE4 branch. Even though I haven't tested it myself yet, it is important to emphasize that it should not be used for production and will require extensive testing (it is a major change in many respects, including a change in the database...). > Or did I (once again) compile something wrong? Well, if it worked, you have at least an up-to-date version with a couple of nice features (improved light-table, rating and file filter and such). (BTW: comments are, as always, very welcome - I very much enjoyed your input for digikam ...) Just to second Arnd, you can see fresh screenshots from the new metadata editor witch support XMP/IPTC/EXIF at this url:

Oh, so I'll have to keep my curiosity under control until KDE releases the final 4 :-) > Even though I haven't tested it myself yet, it is important to emphasize > that it should not be used for production and will require > extensive testing > (it is a major change in many respects, including a change > in the database...). thanks for the hint. I'll consider this, but I guess for the moment I stay with the update from today anyway... at least for a while... > > > Or did I (once again) compile something wrong? > > Well, if it worked, you have at least an up-to-date version > with a couple of nice features (improved light-table, rating and > file filter and such). It worked. I just had to delete some old stuff to make the install successful (don't know what was really necessary to delete - I just deleted everything) > (BTW: comments are, as always, very welcome - I very much enjoyed > your input for digikam ...) Thanks for the encouragement. I'd really like to be more active here, but as I rarely play, and if I do, they always draw the wrong numbers in lotto, I still have to do some work from time to time ;-) However I always enjoy the work with digiKam and have nothing to complain about this great tool (except of "my metadata things", of course, and I am *very* curious to see the emprovements...). > Best, Arnd same to you all Daniel -- Daniel Bauer photographer Basel Switzerland professional photography: http://www.daniel-bauer.com erotic art photos: http://www.bauer-nudes.com/en/linux.html Madagascar special: http://www.fotograf-basel.ch/madagascar/ _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

Because hovering the icons on the screenshots doesn't work [ :-)) ] I don't know nothing about the functions, of course, (default values, loading own predefined lists, write to more than 1 pic etc.) and so I cannot say anything more than that it really looks good. At least it will be a reason to update to KDE4 when it's ready... kind regards Daniel -- Daniel Bauer photographer Basel Switzerland professional photography: http://www.daniel-bauer.com erotic art photos: http://www.bauer-nudes.com/en/linux.html Madagascar special: http://www.fotograf-basel.ch/madagascar/ _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |
