Where does Digikam store its tag configuration

Geert Jan Projecten
Hello,

I am using Digikam without rating or tagging my photo's.
I am reconfiguring Digikam and naming tags and rating the photo's.
I assume that tags and ratings attached to a photo are stored in the
Digikam database.

In order to make a proper backup, please tell me where Digikam stores it
information like the named list with tags?

Awaiting you answer.

Kind regards,

Qmark

Take a look into the main folder where you store your albums.
You will see an sqlite3 database file there which you can open and examine
using for example the sqlite3 cli executable. In case you configured digikam
to use an external mysql database instead, then of course you should have a
look in the database you configured it to use.

And there is also an option to store rating and tags within
every jpeg additionally to digiKam sqlite-db.

 "Settings" -> "Configure digiKam..." -> "Metadata" ->
"Common Metadata Actions" -> "Save ??? embedded in files"

In this case, your data (tags/rating) is preserved even if
you should destroy the database file.
