What is Kipi?

BGP
It seems Digikam relies upon kipi plugins (I have no idea what they are)
and I don't have them on my computer.

Where do I get them?

How do I install them? (I'm new to the Ubuntu/Linux OS).

It depends on your distibution. You can find the documentation for Ubuntu
on http://help.ubuntu.com.
And that is the link to the "Adding, Removing and Updating Applications"
Page: https://help.ubuntu.com/9.10/add-applications/C/index.html

KIPI Plugins home page:
http://www.kipi-plugins.org/drupal/

Last release is 1.0:
http://www.digikam.org/drupal/node/492

In Ubuntu or Debian, install "kipi-plugins" package.

If you would like to use latest version of Digikam and KIPI-Plugins in Ubuntu
9.10, you may also want to enable Backports repository:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuBackports
