Website downtime

Ben Cooksley
Hi all,

Just a quick notice that sysadmin has scheduled downtime for the
following below sites from 0000 UTC (12am) on Friday. It is unknown
how long downtime will last at this time.

This is necessary to allow for sites to be migrated to a new server.
All of the sites will be completely inaccessible, and will return one
by one as they are migrated and verified as fully operational on the
new system.

Apologies for any inconvenience. As DNS changes are required to
perform the server move, sites may appear to be down long after they
have been restored.

The affected sites (in no particular order) are:
- dot.kde.org
- techbase.kde.org
- userbase.kde.org
- community.kde.org
- forum.kde.org
- akademy.kde.org
- amarok.kde.org
- kdevelop.org
- krita.org
- calligra.org
- digikam.org

These sites will also be affected by the downtime:
- akademy2010.kde.org
- akademy2012.kde.org
- akademy2013.kde.org
- behindkde.org
- blogs.kde.org
- br.kde.org
- desktopsummit.org
- dev.krita.org
- discover.kde.org
- eduini.kde.org
- ir.kde.org
- k3b.kde.org
- kde.in
- kde.nl
- simon.kde.org
- speech.kde.org
- staging.vdesign.kde.org
- sysadmin.kde.org
- tasks.kde.org
- uwg.kde.org
- wiki.akademy.kde.org
- wiki.br.kde.org
- wiki.desktopsummit.org

Thanks,
Ben Cooksley

Re: Website downtime

Ben Cooksley
Hi all,

Just a quick note that the migrations for all sites have now been completed.
As the server setup has changed drastically please let sysadmin know
if you uncover anything which is broken or no longer functioning
correctly.

Please note that we have also rolled out mandatory SSL for all of
those sites as well, so applications which interact with them and
which cannot handle SNI or redirects will now no longer function. In
addition, as we require a decent set of SSL ciphers to be supported,
some older SSL stacks will also be incompatible. Please contact
sysadmin if this affects your application or end users negatively.

It would be appreciated if those using Drupal 6 instances could
contact sysadmin so we can make plans to migrate those sites to Drupal
7. The newer version of PHP in use on the new system causes Drupal 6
quite a few issues.

Thanks,
Ben Cooksley
