Virtual (sub-) folders?

Ben Staude
Hi all,

in the software I'm currently using for organising my photos, there is
something like "virtual folders": on any level of the folder hierarchy, I can
create such a virtual folder and add pictures to it. For example: there is a
folder 2010-08-01_vacation with hundreds of images. I create a virtual
subfolder "show to friends" and add only those images that I want to show to
my friends. There's no additional copy of those images on my hdd, they only
exist as a link in the database.

Is there a way to do such thing in digikam? Of course I can use tags, but they
are not part of the folder hierarchy, so the "show to friends" is in no way
connected to the vacation folder!? Yes, I want to keep track of what pictures
I showed to my friends, so I don't want to reuse this tag for the next
vacation...

Thanks in advance
Ben

Hi,

I use tags to accomplish what you want. I really like the idea to be
able to reuse the tags for other albums.

I e.g. have a tag named "show to friends" and  activate that as a
tagfilter. Then I can choose any album and only those images with that
tag will be shown.
