Using ssh/sftp for remote image collections

gerlos
Hello everyone,
I've started using Digikam 1.4 on my Kubuntu 10.04 laptop, and I'd like to
import in it my large collection of images on my desktop pc, running Mandriva
2010.1, but I don't want to copy all the files (my laptop's disk is too small),
but just access them from the network.

At the moment, I'm using ssh/sftp for sharing files between those computers.
I think it's very comfortable, since KDE applications can see those shared
files through the fish:/ protocol, and I can use the same service to control the
remote system if needed.
Everything I need just setting up only one, simple and secure service.

Can anyone tell me if it's possible to add such a ssh share to digikam
collection? Since digikam is using KDE technologies I guess it is, but didn't
find how. Any clues?

If digikam doesn't support this protocol at the moment, don't you think it
should?

thanks in advance
gerlos
