Using UFRaw and creating Jpeg

tosca
I'm currently working on a big batch of photos, starting from raw, putting some tags, then producing jpeg with the "Open with UFRaw" function.

1) there seems to be a problem on some of the jpg thumbnails: the thumbnail displayed is the one of the last raw photo I have extracted (see http://picasaweb.google.com/mnaugendre/Digikam?authkey=Gv1sRgCPyhnd-yioOODQ#5543887594794058178 for comparison of jpg/cr2 thumbnails). But the jpg photo itself is correct!
I tried to exit Digikam, and start it again, but that doesn't change anything.

2) I added some tags to the raw pictures before treating them in UFRaw, but the tags don't appear in the jpg file. Is there a setting somewhere to automatically copy the tags from raw to jpg? In Digikam? or UFRaw?

Thanks for helping,
Marie-Noëlle (Digikam 1.5.0)

I think there once was a menu entry to reload the thumbnails but can
not find it any more.

As UFraw does no know anything of the tags set by digikam, the
converted jpeg will not include this data. My way of using the tags is
to extract the exif data via command line utility from the already
available jpeg, run UFraw and add the extracted exif data back to the
newly generated jpeg file. This implies, that you already use a jpeg
file which tags are set to the same value than the raw file.

I think most of the problems will disappear if digikam support side
car files (which will come the sooner or later).

To handle raw files I use a make file. this automates all the needed
steps to a given amount. Up to now I am not finished with it.

Found it in the Tools menu. Does it work on the whole database? Or is it possible to make a selection before running it?

Provided I don't need to do it too often ... it took almost 2 hours to rebuild about 16500 thumbnails.
Apparently, it is not possible to do it on a selection of pictures.

I don't understand what's going on: all the JPG and PNG files that are created by UFRaw (Open with ... from within Digikam) have their thumbnails replaced by the one of the last RAW photo I've extracted/saved with UFRaw.
Another example here: http://picasaweb.google.com/mnaugendre/Digikam?authkey=Gv1sRgCPyhnd-yioOODQ#5547650196784255570

Will I be obliged to rebuild the thumbnails each every time I convert RAW to PNG/JPG?

I'm now in version 1.6.0

Please let me know if I'm doing something wrong.

Sound like a bug fixed by Andi recently in digiKam thumb DB
management. I'm not sure to 100%

Andi ?
