Upgrading libjpeg (6b-6 -> 7-1) problems

Bugzilla from andi.clemens@gmx.net
Hi,

I'm right now analyzing if this problem is KDElibs specific or some digiKam
issue.
I'm pretty sure the "OpenWith" context menu entry worked before with jpeg
files, but now it doesn't.
I installed digiKam 0.10 and it is grayed out, too. So far so good, sounds
like a problem with the new libjpeg.
But dolphin for example just works fine.

Anyone with libjpeg v7 can confirm this?
I will try to get an older version of the lib again, if it is working, I need
to check dolphin again.

Andi

Are you sure that Dolphin is linked with right libjpeg ?

Bugzilla from andi.clemens@gmx.net
Sure, I only have one lib, and before it crashed. Dolphin was repackaged
yesterday so all works fine again.

Oh, nice mik. I'm not sure if we use this libjpeg parameter, but at
least we know a solution

Re: Upgrading libjpeg (6b-6 -> 7-1) problems

Bugzilla from andi.clemens@gmx.net
Well I only have one lib, so it can be linked against this one only :-)

digikam: libjpeg.so.7 => /usr/lib/libjpeg.so.7 (0xb54b9000)
dolphin: not linked against (so I guess this must be linked in kdelibs
somewhere)

locate libjpeg:
/usr/lib/libjpeg.a
/usr/lib/libjpeg.so
/usr/lib/libjpeg.so.7
/usr/lib/libjpeg.so.7.0.0

How can I find out if dolphin is linked against libjpeg?
libkdecore and libkdeui are not linked against.
Maybe this is linked indeep with Qt somewhere?

Re: Upgrading libjpeg (6b-6 -> 7-1) problems

Bugzilla from andi.clemens@gmx.net
I hate the mailinglist, really... why do we have such a silly restriction of
50kb attachment size?
I can not attach anything  to mails and all mails get rejected, this is really
annoying.

Well what I wanted you to show is that the mimetypes seem to be messed up now,
I only get
*.jfif
as the jpeg extension. When I install the old libjpeg version, I have much
more extensions.
Question is why dolphin can work with this?

When I add
*.jpg, *.jpeg
manually, the "OpenWith" command is working fine again.

So I guess some packages in KDE still need to be recompiled, so that all is
working fine here.

Qt has libjpeg as 3rdparty. This depand how Qt is compiled.

Re: Upgrading libjpeg (6b-6 -> 7-1) problems

Bugzilla from andi.clemens@gmx.net
It is linked against the system lib on my computer:
http://www.pastebin.ca/1499218

I really don't know what to do now. Has anybody libjpeg v7 installed and can
confirm this issue?

I have applied a similar patch to our code, but I doubt this has any effect to
possible crashes.

Ok I removed all my mime types in the system and reinstalled the appropriate
packages.
It is working again. Somehow the libjpeg upgrade completely blow my jpeg mime
settings.

But I'm still wondering why dolphin worked fine? Well anyway this case is
solved :)
